“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched.
They must be felt with the heart.”
– Hellen Keller
I offer therapy and counseling to individuals, couples, families, and groups who want to work on a wide variety of issues. Many of my clients are couples ranging from pre-marital through learning better communication, learning to co-parent, recovering from the betrayal of an affair, or arriving at or moving through a decision to divorce. A particular focus is working with couples in which one or possibly both partners find their intimate relationship affected by ADD/ADHD traits. I enjoy working with adolescents, and grown men and women who are focusing on their self-growth and individual development. I consider myself supportive of the GLBTQ community. I was proud to serve the military community as an Embedded Clinician with a CTANG unit.
Depression and anxiety are often symptoms of other areas needing care including sexual abuse, trauma, grief, and invisible family loyalties. I am trained in EMDR and IFS and draw upon a broad range of systems and skill based modalities. While I am not a prescriber, I am knowledgeable about the possible assistance of psychotropic medications and can support your decision making in this area.
Beginning the process of therapy is an important choice you are making to seek care for yourself. Choosing a therapist you feel is a comfortable yet challenging “fit” for the work you want to do can in itself be a process, but one worth taking time to explore. Developing a therapeutic relationship in certain ways seeks to create a more secure, trustworthy, and accountable relationship than many of us experienced in our earliest years from our primary caregivers, and to re-understand the meaning of it all from the perspective of our more accepting adult capabilities. Transparency, education, and collaboration are valuable components of that process. I encourage you to ask lots of questions of your prospective clinician!
I currently accept only out-of-network insurance coverage and fee-for-service clients. However, I am always willing to discuss a more reasonable fee with you as I believe that therapy services should be accessible to those motivated toward a more healthy life and relations.
Best wishes on your journey,

Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength,
While loving someone deeply gives you courage.
. . . . But just as often someone is inquiring about an issue that is causing them distress they believe is caused by someone else they are in relationship with, and wish the other person would take care of it by changing. We may decide together that it would be a good idea for both of them to participate. Human intimacy is a compelling drive for connection which also requires a balance-in-motion with personal space. Like the therapy process, it must be founded on trust and safety.
There are only seven perfect families currently residing in the U.S., and they rarely have any openings.
Because I am trained from a perspective of family systems therapy, I believe strongly in the influence previous generations have had upon each of us, and in helping to raise that influence more into consciousness so we can freely choose how loyal to it we want our lives to be. It can often seem like a host of others are present in the room, whether they are physically in attendance or not. When change feels “stuck” it’s often helpful to invite their voices in reality or internally through a felt sense. I often draw upon the work of Dick Schwartz’s Internal Family Systems approach in exploring these inside “parts” of our selves.
Mindfulness is about being fully awake in our lives. It is about perceiving the exquisite vividness of each moment. We also gain immediate access to our own powerful inner resources for insight, transformation and healing.
– Jon Kabat-Zinn
In the beginning, an individual may call me to come in alone to care for something they are struggling with for themselves. It may be a desire for self-growth, support through a period of normal change, or a realization of being ready to do true healing from past emotional injury.
